What to Know Before Scheduling a Session
-
How does this work during the COVID-19 outbreak?Online and in-person sessions are both currently offered. Online sessions take place over Zoom. For in-person sessions, our tutors will be wearing masks and are either vaccinated against COVID-19 or are testing regularly. It is encouraged that younger students who cannot stay focused during an online session receive in-person tutoring. Payment will be handled electronically.
-
What happens at the first session? The first 5-10 minutes of the first session will consist of getting to know the student, confirming academic goals, and getting clarification on what the student and family hope to get out of tutoring. Tutors may conduct short academic assessments to determine the student's area of need if their teacher has not provided as list of skills to address or another note regarding what the student needs to improve on.
-
How is payment collected?Payment will be collected by the child's first session of the month via electronic payment through Venmo or Zelle.
-
Can my child bring a friend to their sessions? Our tutoring services are for regular meetings. Students in the same class who are both receiving tutoring from the same tutor may participate in a group session together.
-
Do you collect report cards?Yes. We would like to receive a copy of your child's progress reports and report cards so we know if tutoring is working for your child or if the tutor needs to make some changes. Grades can be shared as a hard copy or as a photo/screenshot.
-
I am looking around for tutors to see who is the best fit for my child. Can I meet with you before I make a decision?Of course! Parents/guardians can schedule an appointment to meet with us and discuss our tutoring services. One "trial" session at half-price is available for families who ask.
